Ticarcillin 3g + Clavulanic acid 100mg Injection

MODE OF ACTION

Ticarcillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria. Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor which reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Ticarcillin against bacteria.It  inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to one or more of the penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), which in turn inhibits the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis in bacterial cell walls, thus inhibiting cell wall biosynthesis.

DOSAGE

3.1g IV 6 hourly up to 10 to 14 days depending upon severity of infection
