Meropenem  500mg Injection

MODE OF ACTION

Meropenem is a broad spectrum Carbapenem antibiotic with bactericidal effects by penetrating bacterial cell readily & interfering with synthesis of cell wall components, which leads to cell death.
Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor which blocks the action of enzymes produced by bacteria to inactivate Meropenem. Addition of Sulbactam reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Meropenem against bacteria.

INDICATIONS

• cIAIs
• Sepsis
• Bacterial Meningitis
• SSTI
• HAP
• Acinetobacter infections
• Intra- and post-partum infections
• Clostridium infections

DOSAGE

ADULTS: 500mg-2g depending upon severity & type of infections and dosage should be continued every 8 hours.
PEDIATRICS: 10-40mg/kg depending on the severity & type of infections and dosage should be continued every 8 hours.
