Cefoperazone is a semisynthetic broad-spectrum cephalosporin proposed to be effective against Pseudomonas infections. It is a third-generation antibiotic agent and it is used in the treatment of various bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms in the body, including respiratory tract infections, peritonitis, skin infections, endometritis, and bacterial septicemia whereas sulbactam, helps prevent bacteria from breaking down cefoperazone.

COMPOSITION

Albactam 1.5g - Cefoperazone 1g + Sulbactam 500mg

MODE OF ACTION

Cefoperazone is a 3rd generation cephalosporin, interferes with cell wall synthesis by binding to the penicillin-binding protein (PBPs), thus preventing cross-linking of peptidoglycan. Sulbactam binds and inhibits the B-lactamase enzymes.

DOSAGE

Mild to Moderate Infections: 1-2g daily, given in equally divided doses every 12 hours.

Moderate to Severe Infections: Upto 4g daily in equally divided doses every 12 hours.
