COMPOSITION

Piperacillin Sodium 4g + Tazobactam 500mg Injection

MODE OF ACTION

Piperacillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to one or more of the penicillin binding proteins, which in turn inhibit the final step in transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis in bacterial cell walls, thus inhibiting cell wall synthesis.

INDICATIONS

• Appendicitis
• Peritonitis
• Uncomplicated and complicated skin and skin structure infections,
• Postpartum endometritis or pelvic inflammatory disease
• Community-acquired pneumonia (moderate severity only)
• Nosocomial pneumonia (moderate to severe)

DOSAGE

80mg Piperacillin / 10mg Tazobactam per kg body weight / every 6 hours.
