Minocycline injection is used to treat bacterial infections in many different parts of the body. It is also used to treat severe acne and intestinal amebiasis. It is also used to treat infections in patients who should not receive penicillin antibiotics.Minocycline belongs to the class of medicines known as tetracycline antibiotics.It is an antibiotic used to prevent or treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. These may include infections of the urinary tract, bones, and joints, lungs (eg. pneumonia), brain, and blood among others. It is also used in hospitalized patients to prevent infections.

DOSAGE

Usual adult dose: 200mg IV initially followed by 100mg IV every 12 hours (Max. Dose: 400mg/24 hours).
Usual pediatric dose: Above 8 years of age: 4mg/kg IV initially followed by 2mg/kg IV every 12 hours.
