Teicoplanin is an antibiotic used in the prophylaxis and treatment of serious infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus faecalis. It is a semisynthetic glycopeptide antibiotic with a spectrum of activity similar to vancomycin. Teicoplanin is produced by so-called "rare" actinobacterium Actinoplanes teichomyceticus, belonging to the Micromonosporaceae family

Teicoplanin 400mg Injection

MODE OF ACTION

Teicoplanin inhibits the growth of susceptible organisms by interfering with bacterial cell wall biosynthesis at a site different from the affected by Beta-lactamase. Peptidoglycan synthesis is blocked by specific binding to d-alanyl d-alanine residues.

Osteomyelitis

Septic Arthritis

DOSAGE

Adolescents & Adults: Severe infections 6mg/kg every 12 hours for 3 hours followed by 6mg/kg/day.
Infants of 2 months & Children upto 12 years: 10mg/kg every 12 hours for 3 doses, followed by 6-10mg/kg once daily.
